Day 4: A guide to biking across Canada.
Cycle Manning Park to Bromley Rock Provincial Park

Manning Park East Gate

Congratulations on conquering Allison Pass. You will remember that climb for the rest of your life. However, you are not yet finished with extreme climbs. Although not as high, Sunday Summit, on the east boundary of Manning Park will challenge you comparably to Allison Pass. After climbing Sunday Summit, the ride to Princeton will be smooth and scenic.

Today you will start cycling along the stunning Similkameen River, which appears shortly after Manning Lodge. This waterway is one of the most beautiful and untouched rivers in Canada’s south. Every year anglers from all over the world flock to the area to fish for Cutthroat and Rainbow Trout.

Pack plenty of water; the only place to fill your bottles is at a small gas station and restaurant at the eastern boundary of Manning Park.

The landscape and climate will change dramatically today as you approach Princeton. Trees will be larger, plants lusher and the weather milder.

Enjoy the dramatic descent into Princeton, population 2 610. Grocery stores will be visible from the highway as you enter. If your bike needs some love, head to Backroads Bike Shop. Princeton is the place to acquire supplies before continuing down the road to Bromley Rock Provincial Park.

Your destination for the evening, Bromley Rock Provincial Park, is located at a traditional First Nations fishing site and is a great place for a swim. Visitors flock to the area to relax on the sandy beach or to start a tubing adventure down the river to Stemwinder Provincial Park. There are showers on site, but bring drinking water with you as there is often a boil-water advisory in the park. The campsites are picturesque, placed on the banks of the Similkameen. Camping is permitted all year long although services are only guaranteed from late April until Late September.
