Day 64: Midway Motel to Corner Brook’s Kinsmen Prince Edward Campground
Leave the Midway Motel heading north on HWY 1. There is only one service station on the highway today so pack lots of food and water.
James Cook first explored and surveyed this area in 1767. Copies of his maps are available at the Captain James Cook Monument in Corner Brook. The city is situated on a steep hill near where the Humber River flows into the Atlantic Ocean.
The arts play a prominent role in Corner Brook culture. The city is a popular stop for touring musicians, comedians and theatrical productions.
HWY 1 runs well above sea level. The descent into Corner Brook is steep and fast. Fortunately, when you exit Corner Brook you will bike along the water and meet up with the highway with minimal effort.
The Corner Brook Museum and Archives exhibits the social, cultural and natural history of Corner Brook and the Humber Valley. Cycle Solutions is a full service bike store. Hotel Corner Brook has the cheapest rooms in town.
Purchase supplies in downtown Corner Brook before heading to the Kinsmen run Prince Edward Campground & RV Park, east of town. Laundry is available at the campsite.
